It’s a Breezy Tuesday morning as I’m preparing to deliver a project we just finished working on for one of our loyal customer- wait did I say loyal, if yes I did which customers are not loyal then?. Let me re-structre this in four steps so that we can all understand the love affair one should have with their customers.

1 ▪ GO ON A DATE
I always recommend this, whatever the business is, always allow it to be discussed in the office, over a cup of coffee or tea or lunch. It shouldn’t be discussed by the pavement, in a car or over the phone, it will always make you more professional than your competitors. Most business deals are lost not because you don’t have the right equipment and right skills to deliver the work, but because you never considered your client as a valuable asset. Your customers need to know from the beginning before you can touch their business, what kind of great ultimate touch will you make them experience. Make it a point to identify where your company touches your customers and personalize your services at each, if you have a gut to discuss that deal over the phone, pavement, car or DM’s you are in it for money more than you in it for passion and great customer experience.

2 ▪ DON’T SHOW OFF – SHOW UP
(Good buyer)-Your customer doesn’t really get impressive by how many big clients you have, they only care about what solutions you will bring to their client’s problems, so stop bragging about how much money you make, how many cars you currently own and how many big deals you have closed yesterday it will make you look unprofessional. The number one reason you are with that particular client is because you need their business, so if you start showing off it simply means you are in it for the money more than you in it for passion. Your eyes should be focused on your customer only, always show up when they need you to, always Apologize when you’re wrong(well if you like me, even when the customer is wrong). Be willing to go an extra mile for all your customers because they are all loyal. Answering a cell phone during a meeting is part of showing off, being 1 minute late for a meeting is part of showing off, not looking the customer in their eyes is part of showing off, writing notes on your cell phone or tablet is part of off showing off (use a pen and paper) you use to take notes better with a pen and paper at school. Just show up, be on time, switch off your cell phone (OFF NOT SILENT), Emergencies can wait, your customers is the number one priority who deserves your undivided attention.

3 ▪ NOW SLEEP WITH YOUR CUSTOMERS
It’s Time now to know their moves, what really make them buy from you, by all means ask them what their main frustrations are with your products and services. Do the research, don’t sleep keep studying because your competitors aren’t sleeping either. This is a stage where the intimacy between you and your customer start to increase, this is How you sleep with them, you listen to them, not only to what’s being said by them but also listen for feelings as well, emotions are often more important than words, they present the real core of massage. If you can connect to your customer’s emotions you are likely to keep your customers for as long as your business exist. This approach has always been the best for small and large businesses to succeed in the long term. Take my word for it ; you need to be customer obsessed, make a note in front of your office door “Every Customer Counts“. The secret about sleeping with your customer is Once You start concentrating on the customer and provide them with loyalty, create a great customer experience, and go extra – extra miles for your customers, believe me profit will be a happy by – product of a successful business in a much broader sense.

4 ▪ EMBRACE THE RELATIONSHIP
Now that you have a good existing relationship with your customer, please avoid complacency it’s very dangerous than a comfort zone itself. The purpose of a business is to create and keep a customer(read it again). If you loose one customer you have literally shifted from this purpose. Effective Entrepreneurs have always been quick to extol the virtues of concentrating on the customer and they are always reaping the benefits.

To embrace the existing relationship between you and your customer is to treat them as individual, make them feel though they are the most important people in the world. Allow your company to always want to improve customer service to the market. Most importantly listen to learn – Listening helps us achieve everything in business.

Coming to professional photography, I get asked this question almost evryday “Mr Billionair what kind of cameras do you use?” – my reply is the same “any camera”. I mean I started my photography company with a Sony Ericsson U10i Phone, I believe that motivate my answer. It’s not about an expensive camera or the best locations, I don’t travel to Paris for best shots, the best shots are at the back of my yard. Here I will break down 7 key elements how to grow better as a startup photographer and start making money using even a cheaper camera.

1- FRIENDS WON’T PAY YOU

No matter how good you are at your work, pals will only give you a good tap on your shoulder but won’t pay you, not because you are not worth it simply because you haven’t figured out your worth or when you should start charging money. Are you a guy with a nice camera or a professional photographer? Once you answer this question correctly -then you will know it’s time you start charging, it’s time you start impressing your ultimate clients, people with gold not your Facebook friends. To stay ahead and up to date, you need to invest your time in research and development day in day out. Let’s move to number 2 to understand number 1 vividly.

2- SELL YOURSELF

The best photographers don’t own the most expensive cameras, but own a unique marketing strategy. That’s what you should master, a good marketing strategy will always make you noteworthy. To learn how to effectively market yourself to the crowded industry of photography, you need to have a different approach and make sure you travel with your business cards wherever you go, a good marketing strategy includes decorous branding. Eg : Your business card should match your website theme and hiring an affordable advertising social media agency will work out better for you, it will actually separate you from the camera men.

3- STOP WORKING FOR FREE

You have been working for relatives, friends and loved ones for free, it’s not a sin at all. But to become extraordinary capable you need make it clear to everyone that it’s no longer a hobby it’s business, serious business. Remember not everyone buys a BMW so only those who can afford BMW buys it and those who cannot afford it settles for what they can afford, which diverge from BMW. Same goes to you my companion photographer, set up your price and make it visible, real recognize real. Real will start paying you from the day you start setting real price tags.

4- DO IT WITH LOVE

If there are days where you sometimes feel like quitting or taking a break, I’m sorry to tell you that photography it’s not for you, you just know how to operate a camera very well. I have never went through a day without being devoted to photography. I take pictures every day, almost everywhere, what makes me good is not the fact that I’m good or I am mentored by the best – okay that is very crucial though and all credit to my Mentor#1 and Mentor#2 (your surroundings plays a gigantic role if you want to start collecting gold in photography industry). It is because I love what I do, I love photography with all that is within me. If you don’t love what you do, you will never excel and you are in fact wasting your time. 5- PERSEVERANCE AND PATIENCE

If you have been following my articles since birth, you are very familiar with this saying “all wealthy people have one thing in common – patience“. Pro’s didn’t become professionals by accident, they gave their all and through all the struggles they remained patient. When hard times reveals it’s true colors they preservered wholeheartedly. When clients couldn’t pay them in time they remained converge, every industry has its own struggles but it’s important to grow a thick skin as early as possible. 6- STOP PLAYING. START WORKING

I have met countless photographers who are full of excuses. Don’t be one of them, any photographer who is full of excuses is still playing not even close to start working. The World Rewards Actions Not Excuses. – We all don’t have time and we all have commitments. ‘Time is money, time keeps its own time’ this applies to Professionals Only. I know I shouldn’t have include number 7 but I did.

7- BE AN EXPERT VOLUNTEER

Here you simply need to make a solemn sacrifice and don’t be shy to volunteer when working with experts. Remember once you are invited to work with the experts you are automatically becoming a vise experts – You don’t wanna remain a pro for the rest of your photography career. When working with experts you don’t want money, you want something worth more than the dollars, euros and pounds. You are working to build up your portfolio, all those photos you will work on together with your fellow expert will elevate your game better than some one who is failing to read the line between working for free and trade work for beneficiary.

3 TRIED AND TESTED SECRETS USED BY SUCCESSFUL ENTREPRENEURS

It’s a Monday morning few miles from the CBD, I am in my neat office (it can be very untidy sometimes). Checking my emails, delete, mark as unread, save and suddenly I’m reading an email from a very dedicated hustler, actually his email is about a meeting and a business proposal he has been pursuing for months. I called him right after reading his email, we met, during the meeting – I noticed few essential things entrepreneurs these days keep doing wrong.

How many times do I have to talk about principles, he is a very talented entrepreneur but he lacks principles, principles are key in Entrepreneurship. If you call yourself an entrepreneur and haven’t set principles for your hustle or business, you probably running your businesses on some one’s terms and conditions, but unaware. Yes you are selling, yes you are trending, but you don’t have a to do list, a weekly Planner (Which in my everyday business life it’s a can’t hustle without). Most importantly principles.

A TO DO LIST
One of the most crucial and effective elements in business is planning, your to-do list it’s actually a map that will show you: there is your Korea, your Toronto, your UK, your DC Washington located or etc and you will be able to drive there. Let’s say you don’t have a map (to-do list) and you have a couple of thousands in your pocket, before you know it yourself, you will find yourself in the shopping mall buying unnecessary products. Instead of investing the very same couple of grands in a new micro-small businesses or before you know it you will find yourself in another entrepreneur’s office helping him/her to complete their deadlines. Now that’s where you should just open your eyes wider and realize that the day is running you, you are not running the day.
Now let’s say you have a to-do list (a map), before you know it you will be very productive, only attending what’s written on the list, if it’s not on the list, it simply don’t make sense. You will start to run the day effectively. If you really obsessed about success, you will only follow your map not because you want to take shortcuts but because you understand the value of time and you can only spend your most valuable time on things that are aligned to your business and things that are very productive. Once you have your to-do list on your priority list, you will always be on the lookout for new market and different niches that your products or services could be introduced to.

A WEEKLY PLANNER
I really don’t think I should emphasize on this one that much, we are all familiar with a GPSGlobal Positioning System, it directs you anywhere you want to go. A voice even tells you where to turn and how much farther you still need to drive, the GPS only takes you to one destination at a time. If you very serious about your hustle, then you should make it a point to own a GPSWEEKLY PLANNER. It will direct you how to get to the correct route to your ultimate price, how to schedule important meetings, how to get the ultimate price in time and with a Weekly Planner you will never get lost. Whatever line of business you’re in, you should be able to develop a habit of starting each week with a Weekly Planner.

A PRINCIPLE

Whenever I advice young people on how to focus productivity instead of activity. I always tell them that, set yourself principles that are driven by your vision and values. Your value + vision = principles, this simple interpret that as much as you value your vision more than any other negative destructions, you will never fail to comply with your own principles. Whatever industry you operating from, if you can set principles rooted in vision and value they will always work just like they worked for me and for other multi-million dollars enterprises. Keep them at core always.

Take note of the following : complete task always and top procrastinating, do the work as it comes.
Go with what works and with what sells. This will ensure long-term sustainability and your company’s survival.

2- Thy should fear not. Fear is a significant obstacle for a hustler to become what they are designed to be.

3- Thy shall not settle for good. Strive to be the best. Good people are not hungry for success, are not eager to prove themselves. Settle is a tough pill to swallow.

4- Thy shall not quit. Your fear of looking stupid is holding you back. Give in, don’t give up, diversify, change strategies but don’t quit.

5- Thy shall not tell lies. Giving excuses is part of lies you tell yourself every day. The world rewards results not excuses (do the math).

6- For the love of money is evil. The more your sell features is the more you will chase money. But start selling value (Outcomes) then money will chase you, clients careless about features and care more about results.

7- Thy should visit hell. When we talk about hell, we talk about you doing H.E.L.L everyday= HustleEndlessly to Leave a Legacy.

8- Thy should build an Ark. As they say “Make sure everybody in your ‘Boat’ is rowing and not drilling holes when you’re not looking” know your circle.

9- Thy shall not gossip. There’s no point in gossiping about your competitors, there’s a massive point in out working them, out thinking them. If you go exactly where your competitors are, your dead.

10- Thy shall not be an ass-kisser. Being humble and ass-kissing it’s not the same thing. For as long as you still sell your time for money, you’ll always be cheap. Time is money (do the math).
